It’s funny to think that only a few years ago ‘selfie’ wasn’t even a word. Now, most people across the country would know its meaning. As a teenager in the age of social media (and a camera phone!) I am, like most people my age, an expert at selfies. (In case you have been living under a rock, a selfie is a photo of yourself, taken by yourself. #seewhatIdidthere??)
I don’t take selfies only to get an ego boost (although it’s a great feeling when you #nailedit) but also to keep in touch with family and friends. Selfies are my way of letting them know where I am and what I’m doing. It’s the postcard of the new generation! Selfies are a fantastic way of capturing the moment and allowing friends and family to enjoy moments with you.
The Candid ‘#Selfie’ disc is perfect for me because, like heaps of teenagers, I am constantly on my phone taking selfies. Whenever I’m procrastinating - I’m on my phone. I’ll take selfies to avoid doing my homework or be posting about how I’d rather be doing anything else than homework (sorry mum, but you know it’s true!).
As I write this I’m scrolling through the many, many, many selfies on my phone and I find myself laughing, smiling, screwing my face up and wondering ‘what on earth was I doing there?!’ But this is exactly what I love about selfies. I’ve created lasting memories that always manage to bring a smile to my face. #LongLiveTheSelfie
